A former Kremlin official and until recently deputy. Gazprombank group president has been found dead in his luxury apartment in Moscow by his 26-year-old daughter, local police reported.
The body of 51-year-old millionaire Vladislav Avayev was found along with that of his wife Yelena, 47, and that of his little girl Maria, 13.
The bodies had all gunshot wounds and were found by the shocked eldest daughter Anastasia when she entered the apartment as she failed to contact the family.
Investigators say they are keeping an open mind about the 14th floor massacre, which was carried out with Avayev’s pistol, while adding that his work-life connections are being investigated.
Anastasia told officers the weapon was in her father’s hand when she found the body.
Avayev had worked as a senior executive at Gazprombank, which is a key part of Vladimir Putin’s scheme to respond to Western economic sanctions.
He had previously headed an important department in the Putin administration, while owning assets from his construction company.
Some suggestions were that the banker had discovered that the wife had an extramarital affair and that the couple were close to divorce, but investigators say they are investigating in several directions.
Several weapons were found in the apartment.
A neighbor named Kristina said: “I heard three shots and screams. A woman was screaming, then I heard two more shots and there was no more screaming screaming. “I looked outside because I thought they were fireworks, but my mother told me they were not fireworks.”
A female neighbor said: “Maybe it’s about sanctions, everyone is depressed. “Maybe he got into debt and killed himself.”
Another female neighbor said, according to the Daily Mail: “He was an intelligent man, he was a manager at Gazprombank. He did not look like a maniac, he looked neat. I did not look like a man who could do that. Maybe Avayev and his family were killed.
Gazprombank is one of the main payment routes for Russian oil and gas. In March, Putin demanded that all countries open accounts with the bank to pay for Russian gas, in response to Western sanctions. DailyMail ///
