North Korea confirmed through state media that it launched tactical short-range missiles today.
A report by the state agency KCNA says that this is the latest in a series of missile tests that have shown the development of the country’s missile program, Reuters reports.
The KCNA report came a day after the South Korean military announced that North Korea had launched two short-range ballistic missiles from the airport in the Pyongyang capital.
The KCNA news agency also reported that the North Korean Defense Academy of Sciences conducted a test of short-range tactical guided missiles from the west of the country and confirmed that the target had been hit exactly on an island off the east coast of North Korea.
The test missile fire was intended as a separate assessment of the tactical capabilities of the guided missile and the accuracy of that short-range missile system, according to the official statement transmitted by KCNA.
