Timoslav Perusic, an Albanian-speaking Serb citizen, commented on the protests in Serbia, saying they were a response to the war in Ukraine.
In a live link to “Albania Live”, he said that Serbia is economically dependent on Russia because of the oil industry. Regarding the recent pro-war protests in Ukraine, Perusic said groups had been mobilized to counter-protest.
“What I can say as someone who follows the news is that you mentioned the protests as a response to the war in Ukraine. They have laid a ribbon in the shape of the Ukrainian flag and with the Russian people with those who are against the war in Russia. Thousands have been arrested and there the citizens can not dare.
In Serbia, they have mobilized some groups to make a counter-protest that has nothing to do but gives more echo to the atmosphere in Serbia. There is no real danger from Serbia for several reasons and factors. We must also understand the situation in which Serbia finds itself, not only at the moment but in the last 30 years. Serbia in 2009 sold the oil industry to Russia. “Russia has influence.” tha Perusic.
Asked if citizens support the war or are against it, Perusic said with conviction that most are tired and do not want war while urging Kosovo citizens not to worry.
“In general, Serbian citizens are tired and do not want any war. A majority are against the war in Ukraine, or may say they justify Russia’s actions but not necessarily politically. On the other hand, the EU is the one that will not lose and will not lose because it would be fatal for Serbia itself. Serbia has no tendencies. We should not worry and it is important that the citizens of Kosovo do not worry that there is no danger “said Perusic.
