A protester was dragged to the floor during a Marine Le Pen conference after erecting a sign showing the French presidential candidate with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The woman, who reportedly belonged to the Green Party, fell to the ground after interrupting an election in Paris and was pulled out of Le Pen’s hands and feet by security guards.
The development comes as Le Pen vowed today that if he won, he would hold a referendum on reinstating the death penalty in France and banning wind farms.
The leader of the “National Rally” party has promised a new renewed system of referendums in the country, as well as to stop wind turbines, which he called “horrors that have cost us a lot and are not worth energy.”
With just 10 days left before the final round of voting against Macron, polls show Le Pen lags slightly behind the centrist president, but competition will be tight.
After leaving the hall chaotically, the protester gave an interview to the media: “We wanted to make it known that Marine Le Pen diplomacy tolerates dictators like Vladimir Putin.”
Le Pen reacted harshly to the protest, saying it was not fair for election conferences to be disrupted in this way.
“What should make us angry is that we can not hold press conferences without being harassed, attacked or threatened by rivals.”
She added that the security officer who stopped the protester was injured during the intervention.
