The Minister of Finance, Delina Ibrahimaj is in Bilisht to give a solution to the problem of tailoring employees.
She explained that “The government is committed to respecting the law. We are in support of employees to respect working conditions. Employees are paid for 22 days while they work 28 working days, in violation of the labor code, Saturday and Sunday are not paid 25% more. “
Over 100 workers of a tailoring factory in the town of Bilisht protested because they did not receive the minimum wage under the law.
Although the employer makes their payments through the banking system, the employees show that the payment they receive is less than what is provided by law based on working days per month.
Question: Ministers, you have noticed some violations today, why are you not imposing fines?
Ibrahimaj: We will take the measures provided by law, we will be in verification, we have received the documentation. We will monitor violations for extra non-payment.
Question: Madam Minister, why are these protests in this sector, not only in Bilisht?
Ibrahimaj: I came for the concrete case. The labor inspectorate cannot verify the additional payment.
Question: Is a check-up on the weekend enough?
Ibrahimaj: I will ask this from the Labor Inspectorate today. The sector has problems, there have been occasional protests, which come as a result of not informing and violating businesses. What is happening today will spread throughout the Republic.
Question: The rise in the price of oil occurs as soon as the stock market rise occurs. This casts a shadow over monopoly. Have you investigated, will you investigate?
Ibrahimaj: In fact the monopolized market does not display these parameters. Stock prices and by-products have been rising for months. It has been since 2020 that an increase has started and will continue for another 6 months. Albania is a pricetaker and not a maker. There will inevitably be an increase in the price of oil.
Question: Did you say in the government public appearance yesterday that you will take action? What specifically?
Ibrahimaj: I said that the government can intervene with supportive policies when there is steady growth and predict predictable growth when it will not fall to the level. Oil prices are still expected to rise, this is due to the world price.
Question: Will you help the pockets of Albanian citizens this 6 months in Albania?
Ibrahimaj: This 6 months we will see how the increase in oil prices will go, we are monitoring. Still no policy to reimburse oil policy, as countries abroad have done.
What I told you, today we will publish a certain analysis, the percentage of taxes, etc. We will do it for everyone for the public, for the weight of taxes and oil.
