Pope Francis has suggested that people who choose pets instead of children are acting selfishly.
The Pope’s comments came as he talked about parenting in front of an audience at the Vatican.
“Today we see a form of selfishness,” he told the audience.
“We see that some people do not want to have children.”
According to him, this thing makes people laugh, but it is reality.
Pope Francis has said that people who can not have children for biological reasons should consider adoption, urging people not to be afraid of parenting.
This is not the first time Pope Francis has spoken out on the issue.
In 2014, he said that living with animals instead of children is another cultural degradation and that emotional relationships with animals are “easier” and “more complex” than those between parents and children.
The 85-year-old pope has been photographed with animals in the past, but is not believed to have pets.
