After 30 years, the legendary British band Pink Floyd publishes the first music project, with a clear goal: to raise money as humanitarian aid for Ukraine.
This is the group’s first new project since 1997. “Hey, hey, get up” is the song by David Gilmour and Nick Mason, which included the voice of a Ukrainian singer, Andriy Khlyvnyuk, who gave up an international tour to fight for his country and was later injured.
Khlyvnyuk sings a Ukrainian patriotic song; The video was made in front of St. Sophia Cathedral in Kiev, and was later posted on social media. It seems to have served as a powerful impetus for the British band to transform the moment. Gilmour spoke by telephone with Khlyvnyuk while he was in hospital.
“I showed him a part of the song over the phone, and he gave me his blessing“, Said the famous singer and guitarist, who himself has a connection with the attacked country, because he has the wife of his Ukrainian son.
The money raised from this project will be donated to the Humanitarian Aid Fund for Ukraine, an initiative organized by the United Nations.
