The Mayor of Kurbin, Majlinda Cara could not hold back her tears as she spoke in front of over 500 families in Laç who lost their homes as a result of the tragic earthquake of November 26, and today they will be accommodated in the new neighborhood built with funding of the Turkish government.
While thanking the Speaker of Parliament Lindita Nikolla for her contribution, Cara, overwhelmed by emotions, burst into tears!
“Let me thank a special person, who has stood by me every minute, Lindita Nikolla. A special thanks… emotions have overwhelmed me, goes to the municipality of Kurbin. You enjoy the new homes that are much safer than the ones we had two years ago, this new year will remain in your memory for a long time to be the most beautiful year that brought the most beautiful gift for you “, said she.
Further, the mayor said that the reconstruction process will not stop at any moment until every affected resident is insured. Cara said that a few meters away from this neighborhood, work is being done for the construction of a new neighborhood, with 200 apartments, schools and kindergartens, while it is moving at a fast pace for the reconstruction of Kurbin hospital.
“This neighborhood is the fruit of cooperation with our Turkish friends. Like today two years ago, together with the Prime Minister, we visited the remaining 7 ruins, long telephone conversations and he was the only one of us who in every meeting raised hope for everyone. Prime Minister, thank you for standing by us in the most difficult times. A few meters away, work is underway to build a new neighborhood, with 200 apartments, a 100% investment by the Albanian government and EU donations. 6 schools and kindergartens have been completed, 5 more are in process. The pace of rebuilding the hospital in Kurbin is progressing rapidly. I assure you that the reconstruction process will not stop at any moment “, said Cara.
