The Association for War Crimes Gjakova ’98 -’99 today submitted the 16th contingent of criminal reports against Serbian criminals during the war in Kosovo. Over 100 lawsuits have been filed due to murders and massacres that have occurred in the territory of the municipality of Gjakova.
The coordinator of this association, Liridona Binakaj stated that from now on they will deal with the preparation of lawsuits related to missing persons, torture and material damage caused as a result of the war, reports KosovaPress.
“Specifically, today over 100 lawsuits have been filed which relate to criminal charges for murders and massacres committed in the last war by Serbian forces in Gjakova. Our work does not mean that it will end with that, this is the end of the part of criminal reports related to massacres and murders. Whereas, from now on we will deal with other criminal reports, with reports which are related to the hostages of war that were taken, tortures as well as material damages that were caused in the last war in the Municipality of Gjakova“, She said.
She said that the indictments with the crimes committed are documented with photos, while there are also the names of the perpetrators of these massacres, but they did not want to make them public.
“There are all lawsuits that are documented and the photos that the association has, and all are documented, ie. crimes that have been committed. “Those massacres of children, the elderly, mothers, sisters and family members,” she said.
The head of this association, Shkëndije Hoda, said that the fact that prosecutors have been to two places where two major massacres were committed in Gjakova, such as the village of Meja and the Taliq Bridge, proves that these criminal charges are bringing positive moves.
She said that so far they have identified over 7300 participants in the killings and massacres, who are mercenaries of various Serbian military-police formations that have operated in the municipality of Gjakova.
Also, since the beginning of 2018, this association says that they have identified three cases of sexual rape, two of which have gone to the prosecutor’s office, while one has been reported to the police.
“The fact that the prosecutor visited Meja and the Taliq Bridge, this shows that there is something positive. They visited these places two weeks ago and declared them as crime zones. We believe that we will receive information very soon, both from the prosecution and the police. According to local authorities, in the Municipality of Gjakova with 70 burned villages were burned 6200 houses and other facilities, 47 historical and religious cultural facilities, 18 health facilities, 23 schools and 80 percent of infrastructure. During the war 180 martyrs fell, 609 missing, 645 civilian casualties and 324 prisoners. After the war, 154 innocent civilians were sentenced by the Milosevic regime to 1,632 years in prison.
