British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Finance Minister Rishi Sunak will be fined for the party they organized, during a time when Britain was ‘locked down’ as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The fine refers to a party organized at the prime minister’s residence during the quarantine, on the occasion of Johnson’s birthday in June 2020. Labor leader Keir Starmer has called for the two politicians to resign.
“Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak have broken all the laws and have consistently lied to the British public. “Both must resign,” he said.
Police had investigated the organization of 12 events held by Johnson’s Office at a time when there were measures against the coronavirus in the UK. In this case, 50 fines have been issued so far, but police said they will not make their names public.
