The new Zoo will open its doors on Saturday, June 4, at noon, with a series of surprises for the children of Tirana, which will turn the visit into a beautiful experience for them. The Zoo is conceived as a different space, not only to get to know the animals, but also to learn new things about them in special classes.
Today’s visitors of the Zoo, exactly on Children’s Day, were the children of the families attending the social centers and the Orphanage “Zyber Hallulli”, who together with the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, saw the last details, before the opening big on June 4th. During their visit, Veliaj explained to the children how the Zoo will function on a daily basis.
“In the new Zoo we will have many activities, you can even spend the night in tents, among animals; we can celebrate birthdays, we have classes that can be reserved, such as biology, natural science and zoology, student internships for the Agricultural University of Tirana, and many more. It will be a wonderful experience for the children, so I can not wait for Saturday, when we will make the big opening. The city has won an extraordinary jewel! Most of the animals have arrived, we are expecting lemur monkeys and other animals that are on the way. Meanwhile, two lions and a tiger have already arrived and are still acclimatizing to the territory, since they have changed their habitat “, said Veliaj.
He invited children and parents to come on Saturday at noon for the grand opening because they will see a completely different philosophy, whether in space or in the treatment of animals. Veliaj stressed that this investment gives Tirana not only a worthy Zoo, so dear to children, but also increases the value of surrounding properties.
“For those who oppose Tirana projects, such as the Square, Toys at the Lake, the New Bazaar, the Castle, now the Zoo, or the small minority that opposes the Botanical Garden project, they just have to come and see it and understand that it is the day with at night. Since now the value of housing has increased throughout this area. The benefit is not immediate, but comes as concentric circles, initially enriching the whole area. “Once we are done here, we will resolve the trials and conflicts with those who hinder us at the Botanical Garden, then we will continue with the pools at the Lake Dam, to give a good direction to the most dignified spaces of Tirana”, he added.
Veliaj singled out another element: the new underground parking. “At the entrance of the Zoo we have an underground parking lot. I know that there will never be room for 200 thousand cars, but from a Tirana without any underground parking, to a Tirana with such parking lots at “Skenderbej Square”, “New Boulevard”, “7 Dwarfs” and “Italy Square” “As soon as we got another parking lot, we got it from the private occupation at the Garda, the same thing down at the dam, now at the Zoo, – it means that every day we are giving more space for the neighborhood”, he said.
Three days after the opening of the Zoo, everything is ready. Everyone is welcome to attend the inaugural event at noon on Saturday 4 June.
