Varhelyi: I take this invitation as an invitation for the EU to be part of this process. I want to start with this because I think the Open Balkans is not only good, but it is an opportunity that the region has been facing for decades. It could also be an opportunity to speed up the road to the EU.
I say this because when we talk about the EU, marriage or other symbols, we are talking more about processes, negotiating frameworks, non pappers and so on. To be honest with you this is not interesting because I appreciate that the key secret is when we will have the same opportunities as people in the EU and when we will experience all the barriers being eliminated. True integration starts with the economy. I was glad to hear about the idea coming out of the region. They invented this idea.
For the first time, at the table we had a large investment plan to solve the biggest challenges in the region. We realized that without regional cooperation the economic investment plan will not achieve much, if in the region your degree should be endangered if you have to work in another country, or the business does not trade properly. So the region has this potential and only the region can do it.
I believe that the Open Balkans should continue, and we see how they sign agreements to facilitate the lives of people because of the war in Ukraine. We must work together and help each other to resolve this crisis.
I think this is the future that can be created today and therefore we must make full use of it.
