After the friendly dinner the night before in Elbasan, the three leaders of the Open Balkans initiative sat down at the summit where the first very important agreements for the free movement of goods and people were signed.
The summit was held at the Palace of Brigades and as the master of the house, Prime Minister Rama said that the signed agreements define a significant amount of money towards the goal which is the complete freedom of movement of people goods, capital and services.
“Let me go through each pillar of the Haur Balkans, reiterating the call for everyone to join as it is a very inclusive initiative and certainly encouraging others in the region to be part of this effort. In the field of movement of goods, today we will sign the tripartite agreement on live animals and mutual recognition of the issued documentation and the implementation of the memorandum and transit of goods between the three of us that has already been signed in July already. We will also sign the agreement for the field of veterinary medicine“, Said Rama.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that the Open Balkans is an inisaitire that will create the future of our children.
“If we open the borders, the most important objective is to connect our citizens, our people. those who have thought about the past more than about the future. Trade will be easier, these are extremely important issues for many of our citizens, the three of us together or all together will have to discuss the next steps because people want to see more results, it has come to me a little on the tip of the nose that we will have to give excuses for nothing. “Why should we apologize for this initiative? We have no reason to apologize to those who are not part of it.”, said Vuçiiç.
The Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, spoke for the last time at the Open Balkans Summit.
“We have successes to show, results that the working group has done an excellent job. “We have obvious steps to show, this will be my last direct participation”, said Zaev. Here we have the next prime minister, and the deputy ministers that we have full supporters of this initiative, which will bring only good. This initiative will continue with further success in the future and will be recognized by all as such. “We will continue to show Europe that we know how to work together and achieve success.”, said Zaev.
