The United States today expanded sanctions against Russia and Vladimir Putin, including his two grown daughters on the sanctions list.
The White House statement, although not naming the girls, referred to Maria Vorontsova and Katerina Tikhonova, whom Putin has with his ex-wife Lyudmila.
Although he has admitted to having daughters and has said he is proud of them, Putin has always been secretive about his family, especially the children.
Vorontsova was born in 1985 and is a co-owner of a medical company.
Tikhonova, born in 1986, works in an academy and business. She is also a talented dancer and has competed in international competitions.
In a statement, the White House said, “These individuals have become rich at the expense of the Russian people.”
