Thai authorities have recommended that lovers wear masks to refrain from “deep kisses” and avoid face-to-face positions during intercourse because of the risk of Covid-19.
February 14 is popular in Thailand as many couples want to get married that day. But as coronavirus cases rise in the kingdom, authorities are worried about some Valentine’s Day celebrations.
“Covid is not a sexually transmitted disease, but catching Covid is possible through close contact breathing and saliva exchange,” Bunyar Sukrat, director of the Reproductive Health Bureau, told AFP, adding that wearing masks for the face during intercourse ”can reduce the risk.
His recommendations follow similar advice from the country’s Department of Health. Its head, Dr. Suwanchai Wattanayingcharoen, also expressed support for the use of a mobile application that assesses the risk of exposure to Covid in restaurants and for conducting a rapid antigen test.
