The President of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi on the second day of his official visit to Tirana, met with the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, where they discussed the exchange of experiences and the creation of programs for cooperation of Kosovo youth and Albania.
Krasniqi stressed that the meetings with Veliaj are as always inspiring, because he is a man and a model politician, who has set the high standards of a mayor or commune.
“I believe that every politician, especially the middle generation politicians, I am not saying the new generation because there are younger people than us, I really think that should have exactly this starting point, and exactly this approach to have a passion for the work we do . I really enjoyed today what Erion has done continuously, from the space he has created and is empowering him to have as many exchanges between Kosovo and Albania, between young people and especially in the European Youth Year this year Tirana will lead, and organize, but also the part of cultural exchanges. I am glad that this has always been one of your commitments and prioritiesHe said.
Krasniqi added that Pristina, as the counterpart capital of Tirana, should follow such an approach to increase exchange and recognition, as well as to offer the opportunity to young people of Kosovo and Albania to work.
“I want to wish the 102nd anniversary of the Capital of Albania, the Capital of Albanians. It seems that you have started the second century in the most extraordinary way possible, and I am sure that your successes will not stop here. Thank you so much for the hospitality“, Said Krasniqi.
On the other hand, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj expressed his pride and happiness to welcome the PDK delegation headed by Mayor Krasniqi, who represents the elite and new in Kosovo politics.
“I am happy that you are in Tirana. Tirana I am sure is your second home, you should come more often and stay longer. But above all I see it as a great mission to connect young people. We probably connected by chance, many of us. I have lived in Kosovo, some of you in Albania but there is no need to leave it to chance. We can make a real program for our boys and girls in Prishtina and Kosovo, as well as in Tirana and Albania to be connected through these programs . We have an excellent opportunity with the year of youth, we have an excellent opportunity in Kosovo with the manifesto. So our commitment is to take advantage of this opportunity and not leave it to chance, but we insist on special programs. “Starting in high school, starting in university, in party forums, in non-governmental organizations, in art clubs, we connect these threads.”he said.
Veliaj stressed that regardless of the positions and services that everyone performs, if they do their job faithfully, then they can do great things.
“Today is also a special day for Tirana, it turns 102 years old. Even 102 years ago in a village called Tirana with 10 thousand inhabitants, the government of that time comes temporarily, which after going to Lushnje for a congress discovers that it can not return to Durres because they were occupied, so they had to be in one place free. Tirana was also this free village in the middle of Albania, far from the sea, far from the borders. Even at that moment we had to determine what is the 0 kilometer now that we have a new capital and from where we will measure these distances. It is the “Clock Tower”, here begins the whole journey of every distance in Albania. Today, an Albania of history is not what it used to be, it does not have those dimensions. We all talk about national unity, but I believe if we are faithful to small things we are faithful to great things. “So, if we do well these tasks that have been assigned to us in terms of a party, a city, a mission, a public service, then each of us is preparing for bigger things,” he said.
