Two people infected with coronavirus in our country are carriers of the “Omicron” variant, declared today epidemiologist Eugena Tomini.
Tomini stressed that currently the dominant variant of the coronavirus is the “Delta” variant, considered the most transmitted.
Explaining that “Omicron” has the property to be distributed many times faster than previous variants, Tomini said that “in such conditions it is necessary to respect the restrictive measures”.
In an interview for Top Channel, epidemiologist Ilir Alimehmeti explained that he does not see the introduction of the “Omicron” mutation in our country as worrying, on the contrary, it can reduce the situation.
Studies conducted in the affected areas show that “Omicron” does not affect the lungs much and does not show severe clinical symptoms.
Regarding the deaths, Alimehmeti says that the data are missing:
“There is a loss of life at both young and old ages, but this is due to not being vaccinated from a young age and the decline of immunity in old age, as immunity from vaccines lasts only 6 months and the rates of vaccination with the third dose “they are not what is expected.”
