Albania has approved vaccination against Covid for children 12 years and older for those with chronic diseases and 15 years and older for healthy children.
But parents are reluctant to vaccinate their children, especially those who are healthy. Epidemiologist Ilir Alimehmeti is also against the vaccination of successful children:
“For children who have the disease, they should definitely be vaccinated. There is no doubt here. But, in terms of healthy children there is no major benefit, because thankfully from the point of view of the disease, those who pass it naturally, pass it very easily. An estimate by the UK authorities says 25,000 children need to be vaccinated to avoid a single hospitalization.”.
In fact, we have many adults who are skeptical and refuse to get the Covid vaccine, consequently they refuse to vaccinate their children.
