State media broadcast footage of hundreds of soldiers and personnel from the Korean People’s Army medical unit at a giant rally in the Pyongyang capital, as well as images of military doctors visiting a pharmacy, trying to show the country’s high readiness for the disease.
Leader Kim Jong Un engaged the military and ordered nationwide blockades in efforts to slow the spread of the virus among unvaccinated stamps, as the number of reported cases is approaching 1.5 million.
Authorities meanwhile announced that more than 1 million people have already recovered, a claim that comes at a time when global experts have expressed concern about the threat to public health.
Health officials announced the day before 232 thousand new infections and six deaths, bringing the total number of lost lives reported so far to 62. Nearly 700 thousand people are reported to still be in quarantine.
