The first round of voting for the new president of the country seems to have failed, as 16:00 this Sunday was the deadline for submitting proposals.
The first session for the voting of the New President of the Republic is scheduled to be held on Monday afternoon, while the parties still seem far from consensus.
Despite the curves from politics for a consensual president, so far the majority and the opposition have not yet found a consensus on the candidate’s name.
Recall that on Friday, after meeting with the chairman of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, Fatmir Mediu said that it would be difficult to have a concrete name to vote on Monday.
Although Shpëtim Idrizi stressed that the time had come to speak by name, he spoke against the criteria of the head of the PD parliamentary group, Enkelejd Alibeaj, for a non-political president.
Alibeaj was open to negotiate one of the criteria in the draft that bears his signature that of the non-political president. Among other things, Alibeaj said that this majority does not have the legitimacy to appoint the President of the Republic alone, and for this he brought to attention the DASH decision for ‘non gratat’.
For the election of the head of state, the Constitution has provided for five rounds of voting. In the first three rounds a three-fifths majority is required, while in the last two rounds the president is elected by a simple majority.
