Mosi Habilaj has received a final sentence from an Italian court, although there is no trace of him since January 2021.
Habilaj is charged with drug trafficking and a structured criminal group. Moisi Habilaj was sentenced in Italy to 15 years and 5 months in prison, upheld by the Appellate Court there, but this decision was not executed after he escaped from the apartment where he was staying with security measures.
He was arrested several years ago as part of the Italian police operation Venti dei Rosi. Italian police have declared the convicted trafficker internationally wanted.
Habilaj was convicted along with Meridian Sula, Nezar Seiti, Antonino Riela, Vinccenso Spanpinato, Angjelo Buzaka, Xhanluka Pasavanti and Giuseppe Greco.
The other two Albanians, Maridiam Sulaj and Nezar Seiti, have received reduced sentences. Sulaj was sentenced to eight years, while Seiti, believed to be the organisation’s treasurer, was extradited to Italy after being arrested in Albania for six years and eight months. In the first instance, Sulaj was sentenced to 8.4 years in prison and Seiti to 7.4 years in prison.
