No citizens have been evacuated from Mariupol today, as numerous attempts to create humanitarian corridors have failed.
Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said authorities would try again tomorrow to establish a safe passage.
She called on UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who will travel to Moscow next week, to seek a ceasefire with Russia.
“This is what Guterres should talk about in Moscow if he is going to talk about peace.” she said.
Mariupol is expected to fall into the hands of Russian forces, although a small part of the Ukrainian resistance remains at the Azovstal steel plant.
