100 families from the Roma and Egyptian communities can sell used products in the new Selita market.
Mayor Veliaj said that finally after 30 years, the Roma community in the Selita area, will trade in a new space with optimal conditions for them and the citizens who frequent the market. Veliaj said that the new environment will be a year without any payment for the Roma community.
“Finally, the day has come when the Roma and Egyptian communities are treated with the same dignity that every citizen of the Republic of Albania living in Tirana, who will live with honest work, is treated. We will have a market, which for a year will be at no cost, without any payment. Although the payment is modest, but it is a way to give a message and say: We will sell on a stall, we will not lie on the ground, we will respect hygiene that we are still in a battle with the pandemic and it will be free for a year, as a way to show that we want to give the same respect to every community, every citizen who will live with his sweat, his work and his effort“, He stressed.
Symbolically, Mayor Veliaj distributed the first three licenses to new traders in the market.
“Today I have the tremendous pleasure of giving the first three licenses. Here are 100 licenses, so from 95 traders we went to 100; we will also see the way who wants to modify the stall and have room for more for advertising, but I believe that today we have given dignity to the one who sells, we have given dignity to the one who buys, we have given dignity to the one who just passes and he sees a space where there will be a flower garden.
In the end, Veliaj invited the citizens to lend a hand to the Roma community, advertising this market, because according to him this is the best marketing agency.
