Macedonian MPs will start today the discussion on the French proposal, for which the parties have opposite positions. The SDSM has prepared in its proposal conclusions according to which they will force the government not to negotiate on identity.
VMRO-DPMNE says that the conclusions will not have any weight if they do not change the negotiating framework. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is expected to address the MPs in the Assembly with a video message.
Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski yesterday in an interview for MIA invited the deputies to think like statesmen and put the country’s interests first, instead of party interests. From SDSM, they say that the issue of the smooth progress of the session depends on the Speaker of the Assembly, while they have ready the proposals-conclusions that they intend to approve.
So, “11 October” street, in front of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, is closed to traffic due to the announced protest against the French proposal, which will start at noon.
