The head of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, has started the meeting with Mesila Doda, the chairwoman of the parliamentary group “Justice and Integration” to discuss the profile of the next president of the country.
It is foreseen that Balla will later meet with the head of the parliamentary group “Alliance for Change”, Fatmir Mediu.
The negotiators for the election of the president from the ranks of the Socialists are Taulant Balla, Elisa Spiropali and Damian Gjiknuri.
There is still no concrete name from the parties, while it is expected to discuss the profile and criteria that the new head of state must meet.
On the part of the Socialists, Berisha was declared excluded in the negotiations for the name of the new president.
Prime Minister Edi Rama and Balla said categorically the day before that no proposal by Sali Berisha will be approved by the Albanian Parliament.
The day before, the opposition launched the first round of negotiations with the allies for the election of the new president.
The two negotiators mandated by the Re-establishment Commission, Oerd Bylykbashi and Luciano Boci, met with most of the allies, including President Mediu, who reveals details of the dialogue not only with Boc and Bylykbashi but also with contacts with Enkelejd Alibeaj.
Mediu said that there have been discussions with the SP and they will continue emphasizing that the opposition is all about the process and that the participation of the opposition is necessary to have a joint action.
