NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has reacted to Putin’s statement by saying “this is dangerous rhetoric.”
The NATO secretary general said that the behavior of the Russian president is irresponsible. He added that Russia’s war against an independent and sovereign nation makes the situation more serious.
“This is dangerous rhetoric,” he said. This is irresponsible behavior. When you combine this rhetoric with what they are doing on the ground in Ukraine, waging war against an independent, sovereign nation, carrying out a complete occupation of Ukraine, it adds to the seriousness of the situation.“Stoltenberg told CNN.
NATO’s reaction comes shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the country to put its military nuclear prevention on high alert. Putin has warned foreign countries not to interfere in his ongoing occupation of Ukraine, saying it could lead to “consequences they have never seen.”
