Eleina Qirici and Edi Paloka are the official candidates for chairman of the Council in the Democratic Party.
At 18.00 the meeting of the National Council of the Democratic Party was announced by the Re-establishment Commission.
The chairmanship of the PD Parliamentary Group gathered at the blue headquarters a few hours before the council meeting.
The news was announced by the spokesperson of the parliamentary group Oriola Pampuri, who announced that by a majority of votes it has been decided that the group leadership will meet regularly every week, on Friday at 09:15. She stressed that it was also decided that the meeting of the presidency outside the queue will be held on Monday.
The meeting of this body was announced the day before by the PD deputy, Edi Paloka, who said that the National Council will meet at 18.00 and during this meeting the chairman of this PD body will be elected.
Paloka also announced that the meeting will also have a position on the election of the new president of the country.
Although after the March 6 elections the DP’s attempts were for unification, it seems that the April 30 National Assembly deepened the ‘crisis’ in the Democratic Party.
The Re-establishment Group does not recognize Enkelejd Alibeaj as the chairman of the parliamentary group, as on April 30 they voted to dismiss him. Yesterday, a meeting was called by Alibeaj, where the members of Rithemelim boycotted the meeting together with other deputies.
Out of 52 deputies that the DP has, only 22 participated in the meeting convened by Alibeaj.
