Taxes will compile a register of taxpayers’ assets for movable and immovable property.
The creation of this database is foreseen in the economic reform program 2022-2024, the draft of which has been submitted for public consultation by the Finance and comes as one of the pillars of the comprehensive strategy in the fight against informality.
The establishment of such a register aims to make the real assessment of taxpayers’ assets using a system for verification and tracking of their income as well as full control of payments made on property taxes.
In the tax magnifying glass will be the entities that do not declare the real salaries of employees and it has already been announced the launch of action in the field starting from March this year for this purpose, after the analysis that the Tax Administration will perform.
The Ministry of Finance has stated that in case the entities do not respond to the call of Taxes by January 20, which is the deadline for self-correction of employees’ salaries by businesses where 10,550 entities have already received the advisory letter, they will become subject to tax control and investigation.
In addition, the focus of controls for tax evasion will be businesses that do not declare expenses for energy bills or those with increased revenues or those that do not meet tax obligations.
In this context, Taxes has planned to multiply the risk criteria for these entities to 101 such by the end of the strategy in 2024, where the most risky sectors where the controls will be concentrated are trade, construction and tourism sector.
