Four Albanians have been arrested in Bari, Italy, for allegedly sending money to finance the terrorist activity of the imam of a mosque in Tirana near ISIS.
Italian media have reported that Yljan Muça, 31 years old, Roland Lleshi, 37 years old, Elsio Ramku, 33 years old, Roland Belba, 37 years old have ended up under house arrest.
At the head of the scheme was 31-year-old Muça, while Lleshi and Ramku had the role of mediator and Belba, Muça’s brother-in-law, in collaboration with 2 other people in Albania, transferred the money in a handbag hidden in a truck on board a ferry.
An investigation was launched against them in April 2020 under the cooperation of the Terrorism Prevention Police Directorate in Bari.
Investigations revealed that the four Albanians supported jihadist propaganda and distributed leaflets and documents translated into Albanian by former Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and his successor, Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qureshi.
