Moscow court in Lefortovo has filed a new indictment against Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
“The court has received a criminal case against Navalny, who is charged with four counts of fraud and one count of contempt of court.”a court spokesman told Tass.
The criminal proceedings against Navalny started more than a year ago.
According to investigators, he stole about 350 million rubles (about $ 4.5 million) allocated as a donation to the Anti-Corruption Foundation, which has the status of a foreign agent in the Russian state and is considered an extremist organization.
Navalny is also accused of disrespecting Judge Vera Akimova, who reviewed the defamation case against World War II veterans.
He was detained after returning from Germany, where he spent five months recovering from poisoning with a nerve agent blamed on the Kremlin, while Russian authorities denied any involvement in the case.
Navalny was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison for violating the sentence on condition that he be convicted of suspected fraud in 2014.
