Montenegro has been without a government since the evening of 4 February. The parliament of the neighboring state voted with 43 in favor and 11 against, without abstentions, the motion of no confidence in the government cabinet of Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic.
Dritan Abazovic reacted to this, writing in a Twitter post: “I welcome the unanimous election of Maja Jovanovic, with whom the Prosecutorial Council showed professionalism and integrity while responding to criticism in the best way.”
Among other things, he added that the next decisions, according to him, will be even more important and that he will take them without delay.
“I believe that I will take the next important decisions without delay, as well as radical changes of this institution, with emphasis on the strong fight against corruption and organized crime!” wrote Abazovic.
Yesterday, the parliamentary session which lasted over 5 hours was accompanied by strong debates. The first item on the agenda, for the vote to shorten the mandate of the parliament was not approved by the deputies as otherwise the country would go to early elections. Further, the way was opened for discussions on the second and most important point, the motion of no confidence in the government, called by Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic.
Among other things, the Deputy Chairman of the Bridge movement, Miloš Konatar, told the Montenegrin media that he personally believes that Dritan Abazovi duhet should be appointed Prime Minister of the country.
Talks on this scenario, according to him, start today. He said he would discuss this with representatives of the current majority, but also with other entities in parliament.
