A French couple were miraculously rescued by the coast guard after being hit by waves on the steep cliffs of Jersey Island in the strait between England and France.
The woman after crashing into the rocks fell from the boat into the water. Together with the man who jumped to save them they were sent by the waves inside the 3 meter high caves of Plemont on the island of Jersey.
The pair were later rescued by Jersey Coast Guard groups and those on the British Isles.
A Coast Guard spokesman said: “The lady fell into the sea from the waves and broke her arm. Her husband rushed to her rescue and the two were sent to caves by the big waves.
“Lifeboats were forced to maneuver between strong currents in the rocky area and then towards the narrow entrance of the cave.
A spokesman for the operation added: “After they were positioned in the cave, a member of the group in life jackets swam towards the couple and brought them to the boat to rescue them.”
They added that the couple suffered from concussion and exposure to water, and were treated for the wounds they had received.
Locals praised the rescue teams for their courageous intervention and the rare rescue of tourists.
