Moldova has stepped up security measures following a series of explosions by Russia in the separatist region of Transnistria.
Moldovan President Maia Sandu called on citizens to remain calm after a series of explosions in the area bordering Ukraine, which raised fears of a spread from the conflict with Russia.
Speaking after a meeting of the Moldovan Supreme Security Council, Sandu attributed the outbreaks to internal differences between various groups in Transnistria that have an interest in destabilizing the situation.
The council recommended that state agencies increase patrols near the Transnistrian buffer zone and security controls on critical infrastructure.
