Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis today held a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, at the request of the latter, with the main topic how to cope with the negative effects after 19 days of the Russian attack in many areas of the country.
The Greek Prime Minister assured Zelensky for the full support of Ukraine by the Greek government, for sending aid and receiving Ukrainian refugees or even Greek homogenous people living in Mariupol and surrounding areas.
In connection with them was discussed the dramatic situation in all towns or villages where the Greek community lives and the need to open a humanitarian corridor for safe exit from there and access to humanitarian aid.
Mitsotakis expressed his interest in the safe movement of the Greek Consul General in Mariupol and all those trapped in the OSCE building.
According to the official announcement, he noted that the EU sent an important political message of support from France last week to Ukraine’s European perspective, while stressing that the full implementation of sanctions by all partners and allies will help put pressure on the Russian side. to stop the attacks.
For his part, the Ukrainian president made a relevant post on Twitter where, among other things, he wrote: “I had a conversation with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitostakis. I referred to the reaction to the Russian aggression and the appreciation for the military defense assistance as well as the humanitarian support of Greece.
