The solution of the sea issue between Albania and Greece for Athens will take place only after Ilir Meta leaves the presidency.
This was announced by the Greek Foreign Minister, Nikos Dendias in an interview with Greek media, shortly after he returned from Tirana.
“We have agreed to go to The Hague on the issue of the sea to establish and implement international law. “But this has not been done yet because the current president does not give the necessary authority to the prime minister and the next president will be elected in the next two or three months, so all this will be implemented.”
In an interview with Greek radio SKY, Dendias was also asked about Foreign Minister Olta Xhaçka’s statement, citing the Nam’s human rights issue. Here is what she stated in the meeting with Dendias.
“Our friendly countries can start discussions on other issues, no matter how difficult we have inherited from the history and tragic period of World War II, such as the need to repeal the Law of War, or the issue of property rights and human rights of the Cham community ”.
“I believe that in terms of that concrete dialogue, I said the answer at that moment so that we do not have misunderstandings. I believe that the Greek-Albanian relations will not be hostage to the issue in question, which the Greek side believes does not rightly exist “.
What if Albania does not declare that it will not reopen this issue, can Greece veto the negotiations ?:
“I do not want to position myself on hypothetical issues because it sets legal precedents. “Albania during Rama’s rule has an important choice which is the EU, therefore the cooperation with Greece”.
The visit of the Greek Foreign Minister in Tirana ended without any signed agreement, but it is learned that the issue of pensions of Albanian emigrants was also discussed in the meetings. Meanwhile, a few weeks ago, Albania and Greece signed agreements related to energy and energy connection between the two countries.
