Members of the Jewish religious sect, Lev Tahor, have been relocated from Kumanovo to Skopje because of the risk to their lives from a possible incident, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Northern Macedonia announced on Tuesday.

According to the police, their relocation from Kumanovo to Skopje was done by buses, while they were accommodated in a hotel around 03:00 on Tuesday.
According to some footage that was published on social networks, it seems that they were sheltered in a private house in the Macedonian part of Kumanovo.
The Ministry of Interior announced that these persons have a temporary residence permit and can stay for 90 days, and that they do not pose any danger to the citizens of Northern Macedonia.
“We remind you that these persons respect the laws of the Republic of Northern Macedonia. Staying here is completely legal. They have a temporary residence in our country. The Ministry of Interior did not comment on the public announcements that the group could leave Northern Macedonia for Albania.
Earlier, the Interior Ministry announced that “this is a Jewish religious group that is constantly on the move as it has been forced to leave many countries such as Israel, the United States, Canada and Mexico.”
According to Police, the group includes American, Canadian, Belgian and South American citizens. Details on the reasons for their departure from these places have not been disclosed.
Radio Free Europe has previously reported that members of the Lev Tahor group were also seen in the Municipality of Illija in Sarajevo in January. They left Bosnia and Herzegovina on February 3rd, making their way to Montenegro.
The Lev Tahor group has been charged in the past with crimes against children, including kidnappings and their marriages.
About 200-300 members of this group have for decades sought a state that would host their ultra-orthodox interpretation of the Torah. They have been in other countries for four decades since the group was founded in Israel in the late 1980s.
In 2018, the leadership of the Lev Tahor group sought asylum in Iran, although the plan is believed to have fallen into disrepair following deportation by Iraqi authorities to Turkey.
