The debates in the meeting of the DP leadership that focused on the January 8 protest have been clarified.
Fitim Zekthi described it as an illegitimate movement that started in September, adding that Sali Berisha developed his movement in pre-politics and that Foltorja was a fundamentalist in language and actions.
At the meeting he demanded that they form a right-wing PD. Among other things, he said that he has nothing to do with the creators and organizers of Saturday’s protest, the Democratic Party. The member of the DP Presidency also said that the presidency and the mayor should not see their personal interest, but what interests the country.
Fitim Zekthi: What happened on January 8 is simply the logical culmination of an illegitimate movement launched in September. Berisha’s movement tried to delegitimize the DP institutions, its chairman, the presidency, the National Council and said that it would make a revolution. Institutions were called mortgages, sold, illegal.
In parallel, in a non-transparent, totally abstract manner, the so-called signatures for the National Assembly were collected. All this was needed to cover up the illegality and to justify the arrival of January 8th. Berisha, developed his movement in parapolitics, he left politics, he followed the rules and norms of law.
The pulpit was fundamentalist in language and action because it claimed to possess supreme truth. It did not allow and does not allow another understanding of things, of statute, of truth. The rostrum constructed through the media, through propaganda, through lynching language, through aggression and hyperbolic accusations, through conspiracy a reality as if it is the majority.
With this he only sought the excuse to go to January 8th. It is not just a movement for democratization or openness. This kind of movement, these kinds of movements throughout history end up either in a coup or in a revolution. It was a dramatic event, an endless pain for Albanians and Democrats. Those who made and conceived it have nothing to do with conservative values, they are not guided by love for the country, by respect for people’s lives. Conservatives are restrained people, they are people who do not mythologize or fetishize their career or political interest, they are people who are guided by sight, by themselves, do not want annihilation and never justify the use of any means for politics.
With the ideators and organizers of January 8, the DP has nothing to do. This moment should serve for separation from fundamentalist behavior and thoughts, for separation from the thought that the ultimate truth is possessed by someone and that in its name everything can be done by force. We, the leadership, the mayor must build a right-wing, conservative DP that does nothing without focusing on Albania.
For the DP, only what is good for Albania is good. We should never see what interests us, but what interests the country because only what the country needs is good for the DP as well. In short, we need a party with right-wing ideas and people that the people see as sincere bearers of these ideas. Plenty with low-pitched games.
