From June 25, the Mediterranean Games began in Oran, Algeria, and among the 26 participating countries is Albania with the red and black delegation that has already been able to receive 3 medals.
The president of the Mediterranean Games, Davide Tizzoni, in an interview for Top Channel, complimented the Albanian team for the performance so far
Davide Tizzano: The Olympic Committees are very pleased and an important fact is that out of 26 participating countries, 24 of them have won at least 1 medal. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the Albanian team for the fantastic gold medals won. I hope he wins more medals. I think that Albania is a brother country just like the other countries here. Beyond the personal sympathy I have for the leaders of KOKSH, we have a very close relationship. I wanted this connection to be real and operational. So it’s not just something superficial, it’s reality. Your experience and potential should be valued
Tizzano also spoke about the election of Stavri Bello as president of Coordination and Control and the possibility that Albania will hold important events, perhaps starting with the Beach Games.
Davide Tizzano: I think that the appointment of Stavri Bello as the president of the Coordination and Control Commission in Taranto is significant because apart from his experience in KOKSH for 24 years, he also enjoys an excellent reputation within the Mediterranean Games family. The presence of the Minister of Sports was also very important, which shows the need to unite sports with tourism and we will do everything, I personally will do everything so that in the future we can organize any important event in Albanian land such as Beach games. We are working on next year’s edition in Greece, but it could be an opportunity, maybe not in 2025 but in 2027, that Albania, perhaps with the cooperation of a neighboring country, could organize a good beach sports event.
In connection with this proposal, the president of the Albanian Olympic Committee, Fidel Ylli, said that everything will be decided at the end of September when Mr. Tizzano will arrive in Tirana.
Fedel Ylli: We have in the last week of September or the first week of October, Davide Tizzano will come to Tirana. We will take it to the minister and the prime minister to discuss why Albania does not want more than 14 million dollars to make these games.
Meanwhile, the Albanian delegation consisting of the president of Koksh Fidel Ylli, general secretary Gerti Shima and the minister of sports Endri Hoxha had a meeting with the minister of sports of Algeria regarding future projects and the sharing of experiences between the two countries
