Pictures released today by the Russian Ministry of Defense showed the terrifying fire from multiple ‘Grad’ rocket launchers in the Belarusian maneuvers in Lesnovski.
Local leader Alexander Lukashenko today continued his harsh rhetoric saying his country would spare no weapons to external threats.
“If our rivals and opponents take idiotic steps, we will use nuclear and super-nuclear weapons to defend the territory,” Lukashenko said.
“But if there are no threats to Belarus from unfriendly countries then nuclear weapons would not be seen here for a hundred years,” he added.
Belarus is not a nuclear power, but this month it will vote on a constitutional amendment to allow such weapons.
Lukashenko, who has been in power since 1994, has promised a referendum following protests against his re-election.
Moscow and Minsk are currently holding military exercises in Belarus, which are expected to close on February 20.
