For 500 years in the church of “St. Kolli” in Shelcan of Elbasan has been held the Holy Mass of Easter. Of course during the years of dictatorship religious ceremonies were banned, but the church was preserved because of its extraordinary values.
In 1554 with the wonder of colors and talent Onufri would carve the deities on the walls of this building …… But what the dictatorship did not destroy seems to be doing time.
The frescoes have been damaged due to humidity and the building can barely stand. The Institute of Monuments has assessed the situation, but has not yet intervened.
Onufri has painted in some churches in the area of Shpati in Elbasan, but only this object has been preserved. Others were destroyed by time and vandalism. There are many tourists, especially foreigners who visit this church.
