Mariupol officials say Russia is planning to blockade the city starting Monday.
One of the city council’s advisers, Petro Andryushchenko, told the Telegram earlier that Russian forces were planning to stop people from leaving or entering Mariupol starting April 18.
While the deputy mayor of the municipality, Serhii Orlov said that such a closure is already in force for the last four or five days.
Orlov is no longer in Mariupol, but suggested he had contacts with those who are there.
By blocking the city, aid will no longer enter there, increasing the chance of starvation death of residents. Difficulty will also increase for evacuations.
