At least 15 European countries have decided to ban Russian flights from the airspace, as a sign of support for Ukraine, which is in the fourth day of Russian occupation.
As EU countries tighten sanctions against Russia for the invasion, the latter can have no flights to 15 countries, not even to civilian and military aircraft.
The last country was Italy, joining France, Belgium, Germany, Finland, Slovenia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Latvia, Estonia, the Czech Republic and Poland who have closed their airspace to Russian aircraft. Earlier, the United Kingdom also blocked Russian flights.
Moscow responded by closing its airspace to commercial and transit flights from EU countries, to the extent that it has so far targeted aircraft connected or registered in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Poland and the Czech Republic.
