Four modern DEXA bone density measuring devices have been installed for the first time in the public health system.
The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, has closely inspected the installation of this equipment in the Vlora Polyclinic, where he stated that such equipment will be installed for the first time in Tirana and Shkodra.
“It is a new investment, which has already arrived in Vlora but also in Shkodra and Tirana and are the new devices that help the examination of bone density, in function of the examinations that are done for the control of osteoporosis, so I believe it was more than expected by all of you and it is the first time that these devices are installed in the public system. There are 4 new devices in Vlora, Tirana and Shkodra“, Declared Manastirliu.
During the inspection at the Vlora Polyclinic, Manastirliu appealed for vaccination with the third dose, emphasizing the important role of family doctors in informing citizens, in order to continue with intensity the antiCOVID vaccination process.
“Last year was difficult, even this year that has entered with the increase of cases with omicron, apparently there is a situation which is stable, but thanks to vaccination we have managed. The third dose and especially in the medical staff has provided a really effective protection and we must continue to do this great task that we have to the whole population, so to increase the vaccine coverage and to make sure that you, above all, you are healthy and provide health care for them because you are already protected with the third dose. But even those who have not yet taken the booster dose can be convinced by you because the citizens trust you and not listen to conspiracy theories“, Stressed Manastirliu.
Investment of the Albanian government for equipping polyclinics and hospitals with medical equipment for measuring bone density for people suffering from osteoporosis, an investment worth 15.4 million ALL. The equipment will be installed in the Central Polyclinic in Tirana, in QSUT, Polyclinics of Vlora and Shkodra Hospitals.
Dexa is a device used to diagnose osteoporosis, which is more common in women over the age of 50 and in men over 60. According to WHO data, 13% – 18% of women over the age of 50 are likely suffer from osteoporosis and 70% of age over 80 years.
