French President Emmanuel Macron said European and African food supplies would be “deeply destabilized” by the Ukraine-Russia war.
While holding a press conference after a summit of EU leaders in Versailles today, Macron said Europe has been destabilized by the war in this regard and could be worse in the next 12 to 18 months.
“Our Europe is already destabilized by the war in this regard and it could be worse in 12 to 18 months,” Macron said.
He warned that both Europe and Africa would be deeply destabilized in food supplies.
He also added that European leaders will do everything we consider effective and useful to stop Russia on this path of aggression against Ukraine.
The French leader said he would speak again with Russian President Vladimir Putin along with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Russia and Ukraine are major players in global agricultural trade, with both countries accounting for a quarter of world exports of wheat, corn and sunflower oil.
