French President Emmanuel Macron today rejected the introduction of new health restrictions due to COVID 19, saying the decisions taken last week would remain in force.
Asked how France’s huge debt due to the pandemic would be refinanced, he said it would be possible by boosting economic activity and added that as long as he is president there will be no tax increases, Reuters reports.
In Macron’s first interview in the new year for the Parisian newspaper, the president also said he was in a good mood to run in the April election, but he avoided explicitly announcing whether he would run.
“There are no false surprises,” he said. “I would like to do that,” Macron said.
