French President Emmanuel Macron after Moscow traveled to Kiev on his tour of trying to find a solution to the crisis.
The main meeting was with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenski.
“We expect that in the near future, in accordance with the agreements reached during the Paris Summit in December 2019, we will be able to hold the next talks between the leaders of the Normandy Quartet. An important step in this direction is the intensification of dialogue at the level of political advisors. We had a very successful first meeting, we expect a second meeting in the following days. “We hope that the January 26 meeting and the forthcoming talks in Berlin will bring us closer to holding the Normandy summit format,” said Zelenksy.
While President Macron stressed the importance of continuing the talks while showing that Putin had promised that there would be no escalation of the situation:
“Based on this dual commitment, Russian and Ukrainian, we now have the opportunity to move these negotiations forward. A lot of time has been wasted questioning this or that format and this or that method of negotiation. “I believe that now is the time for all participants in these negotiations to engage in a dialogue in good faith, and the way is possible, and we are ready, as far as Germany and France are concerned, to accompany you on this path.”
