Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted on Facebook for the by-elections in 6 municipalities.
Edi Rama: Yesterday’s elections gave the Socialist Party neither more nor less than we expected. 5 out of 6 municipalities in the race – with a campaign without starting the center engines and with a gap of votes from rivals even bigger than our projections showed. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all those who committed to this result, but above all thank you to the voters, who yesterday exercised their decision-making power in the interest of the community.
That said, I can not stay without adding today that what is happening in less than two hours by air from Albania, makes impossible the legitimate taste of this victory. In the blink of an eye the world we lived in has changed again. But unlike the temporary change that the pandemic has imposed on us, this change does not seem to be so temporary. The war is killing and destroying in Ukraine, but it is pushing the clutches of its influence everywhere, in markets large and small, where daily life is becoming more expensive hour by minute under the bombs of insecurity that war sows everywhere.
In the blink of an eye, the films of the Third World War, the atomic weapons, the desolation of the settlements, have given way to the reality of our lives, where it seems as if there is no more impossible madness and even the end of the world itself can not excluded as one of the possible scenarios. Meanwhile, we have won Dibra, Durrës, Lushnjë, Vora and Rrogozhina, with results beyond the most optimistic forecasts! But today the height of the challenge is far more dizzying, than the good governance of these municipalities and than all the governing challenges until a few days ago.
We coped with the earthquake and the pandemic, and mistakenly thought the worst was over. What has just come before us is the worst of all. We should not be able to do that either. United, not divided.
