The increase in covid cases is also reflected in the capital’s pharmacies, as the first stop of many of the infected, who go to get medication as soon as symptoms appear.
“Covid itself is a virus and there is an increase in the number of people entering the pharmacy, they have doubled or tripled in comparison to the previous days when this situation did not exist, the increase is visible, it is significant. In this period, the most medications are those that help symptoms such as sore throat, headache, runny nose, sweating. There are no serious consequences for health, that’s why most people get first aid at the pharmacy”says pharmacist Teuta Maçi.
To help with immunity, doctors also prescribe vitamins for many infected people. But the requirements in the pharmacy in this period are not the same compared to the last two years.
“There are no demands like previous years for vitamins. Every virus leads to a decrease in immunity and patients sometimes require vitamins, but the demand for vitamins is not the same as at the beginning of the pandemic, the situation has normalized. The lack of drugs that treat the covid virus is still not felt, because now they are passing most of the cases without difficulty, paracetamol, ibuprofen are available”.
The number of active cases with covid has gone over 5 thousand with distribution in almost 90% of the country’s municipalities, but Tirana has the highest number with 3500 infected.
