When he heard about the protest of the lawyers who are against the reduction of the courts, Skender Guri traveled from Puka to join the rally together with his lawyer who represents him in the family lawsuit against the state.
But with the new judicial map, the trial is expected to be transferred from Shkodra to the appeal court in Tirana, and the justice he expects is related to his wife’s dismissal from work at the Puka hospital. But the wait will not end for Guri.
With the request that the KLJ withdraw from the merger of 18 courts, the lawyers who entered the third week of boycotting the court sessions warned that they will turn to the Constitutional Court to declare the map that is expected to be approved by the government as unconstitutional.
“We are following this, then the judicial way is technical and we own it perfectly”said Max Haxhia.
“We are convinced that this map violates the right to due process”said Anton Kosteri, a lawyer in Shkodër.
“Let them sign that they guarantee success and if they fail, they will take responsibility. So they resign forever from justice”. said Durim Bajramaj, a lawyer in Vlora.
“My clients are dying and they are not getting justice. From 2015, I have a file in the administrative appeal court”, he said Shaqe Marinaj, lawyer in Lezhë.
“Normally, these are costs that fall on the backs of citizens, and we will raise the services and bills”, said Shkëlqim Sulo, a lawyer in Tirana.
“If there will be no justice, there will definitely be canon law”said Agim Bibraj, a lawyer in Lezha.
The one-hour protest was held in front of the pole of justice, which used to be the house of lawyers but was sold to the government to transform it into the seat of new justice institutions, among them the KLGJ, which is not being withdrawn from the map.
The KLJ strongly insists that the new map was also influenced by the vetting process that emptied the courts.
