LaLiga launches offensive against financial irregularities of major clubs in Europe. The institution led by Javier Tebas is ready to file a lawsuit against PSG, but in addition, the president of LaLiga has already done two more in UEFA. As AS has learned, it is about the lawsuit against Manchester City and Juventus.
The aim is to protect Spanish and European clubs from competing in inferior conditions against others, violating the rules and, in addition, endangering the football ecosystem.
The most well-known complaint is the one that will be made before UEFA and other French authorities. The one announced by LaLiga against PSG was communicated as soon as the renewal of Mbappa was made official:
“It is scandalous that a club like PSG, which last season lost more than 220 million euros, after accumulating losses of 700 million euros in recent seasons (including declaring sponsorship income with a dubious amount), with a staff cost of around € 650 million for this season (’21 -’22), it could face a deal of these features. “These kinds of negotiations threaten the economic viability of European football.”
But the Mbappé case was not the only one that caused alarm at LaLiga headquarters. There are also complaints about Manchester City.
“I would like to know how they performed the operation. “Mino Raiola asked for a big commission…”, – said the president of LaLiga this Wednesday. Haaland’s signature has been the point of pouring a glass that was filled. LaLiga had denounced City sponsorships before announcing the deal with Haaland.
Manchester City and PSG are considered state clubs and do not respect UEFA’s Fair Financial Plan. Now it will be Ceferín who has to follow the rules. Moreover, the problem is big: if they do not respect the current economic control, they will find it more difficult to adapt to the new rules, as it is much more difficult.
In the case of Juventus, the third club denounced by LaLiga before UEFA, the reaction came due to the investigation that started last November in Italy against the black and white team for fraud. The prosecution accuses them of fictitious capital gains in several transfers. LaLiga has been asked by UEFA to investigate this issue.
